You’ve seen the images and videos of the Gulf of Mexico’s otherworldly “Eye of Fire,” but now you can safely observe this wonder firsthand. US Petrol recreates this astounding marvel off American shores, with convenient access via the Port of Galveston.
Our engineering efforts release gas beneath the surface of the water, which is then electrocuted to reproduce the lava-like action that makes this spectacle so powerful to behold. This contained experience comes without any risk of an oil spill that would damage the precious ecosystems within the Gulf. The area is monitored at all times by our state-of-the-art systems, which can shut off the gas line at a moment’s notice.
You may also catch a glimpse of the many species that call this area home: bottlenose dolphins, humpback whales, minke whales, sperm whales, and the West Indian manatee, as well as five species of endangered or threatened sea turtles, migratory birds, 49 species of shark, and whale sharks. “I’m continually dismayed by the ravages of capitalism on the natural world. For a moment last July, we were all captivated and horrified by the “Eye of Fire” phenomenon. The news cycle moves so fast, and there is so much ongoing destruction, by now most people likely don’t even remember. When I was solicited by Ripe Fiction, it wasn’t hard to imagine an oil company capitalizing on the public’s fascination with this man-made eruption. The blatant disregard of politicians, as well as promises like the ‘offsetting’ of damage via carbon credits, continue to allow these industries to lay waste to delicate ecosystems.”
